Overview

An end-to-end automation platform connecting disparate business systems through self-running workflows, with AI embedded at the points where a decision has to be made rather than bolted on as a feature.

The problem

Automation stalls at the integration boundary. The logic is the easy part; making it talk to the systems a business already runs is the hard part. HCode's tooling was fragmented, data moved between systems by hand, exceptions were routed by whoever noticed first, and nobody could see where a process had stopped.

What we built

AI-powered workflow builder

A drag-and-drop surface extended with AI steps, so operators compose and change automations without an engineer.

Multi-system orchestration

A central layer connecting HCode's business tools into unified workflows, replacing point-to-point integrations that multiplied with every new system.

Decision-making and routing

Workflows that adapt at runtime, routing tasks and handling exceptions instead of stopping and waiting for a human.

Monitoring and analytics

A live operations dashboard covering workflow status, execution history, and where throughput is actually being lost.

How we approached it

• Build on n8n for proven extensibility rather than a bespoke engine
• Embed AI at the decision layer, not across the whole pipeline
• Centralised orchestration beats point-to-point connections that scale quadratically
• Observability designed in from the first workflow, not added after the first outage

Outcome

Workflows that previously required human coordination now run unattended, with a measurable reduction in manual operations across HCode's business processes.
